Being A Good Egg

IMG_20160523_142426.jpg

This week, I was a meaningful student, as I sold all of my raffle tickets to help pay towards the hangi that our school is providing us. I was also a meaningful child to my family because I did extra chores at home and I  helped my parents to do sort out the clothes.

3d Art Cement in a cup

Walt: Make 3d  art

For the last few weeks, for art rooms 7&8 made a different type of art that was called "Cement in a cup" I found this work pretty cool especially putting in the plants and mixing the cement but the part I found hard was constructing the frame and sawing it into 4 accurate pieces. I would love to take this art work home but maybe it would be better displayed at school.

Used 2 pictures:
  1. Mr Hendricks
  2. Picture-sport  fun- draw eyes on the ball

Own-TV-Family

In class we have been learning  about puns and to get a better understanding of them, Our teacher printed two pictures. One was a netball that said “Keep your eyes on the ball”  and one was our principal Mr.Hendricks that said “ Eyes by me”. When we got it, we had to draw what it meant, so basically we drew eyes on the ball and eyes around Mr. Hendricks.

Eyes on the ball- Focus on the ball, watch where the ball goes
Eyes by me- Look at me

What A Day!

Walht: write an interesting and enjoyable narrative.

The birds were singing aloud as the cars were zooming down the road beeping at each other. A cloud of fog filled the town covering the buildings like a blanket when Miles a young boy with short curly blonde hair and the face of a teenage superstar woke up feeling dehydrated and hungry.

Miles yawned as he stared at the ceiling with an eyebrow raised wondering why the ceiling felt so close. He could feel the condensation rubbing against his back from the window while the frosty cold mist crawled down his back like a thousand ants with ice cubes for feet. Miles was freezing cold but he was struggling to reach for his blanket, in fact his arms were to stiff to reach for anything so he laid there with his eyes wide open listening to the birds everyday tweets until…

Screams of terror filled the room when his parents came up. They stopped and simultaneously looked at each other crying for their son who had extended from small to large overnight. “ Oh No! Miles!” cried his parents but Miles had no clue why they were crying. “ Mum? Dad? What’s wrong?” He said in a low worried voice so his dad quickly ran down stairs like a scared cat and instead of grabbing a mirror he grabbed the shiniest pan in the house as they were living in poverty and couldn’t afford a mirror and showed Miles his reflection.“ AHHHHHHHH!!!!” Miles got such a fright that he leaped out of his cracked wooden bed like a frog and smashed right through the bricked wall out onto a large red bus. The streets were a freezer!

Miles suddenly got up. Cars were beeping at Miles as people from all directions rushed over to see what had landed on their favourite red bus. They all crowded around Miles as if their favourite foods were on sale and as soon as he rubbed his eyes, he spotted a bright multi-coloured sign that said “ Special Cures” so he jumped up and ran to the shop but because he forgot how tall he was, he bumped right into a steel sign and knocked himself out. He then woke up in a muted grey and green coloured room. “ What? Where am I?” He said to himself still half asleep. Beside him stood a long mirror and in it’s reflection was an old man with a freshly shaved stubble holding a beaker of red liquid. Miles stared at the old man as he poured the liquid in a tube that went down his arm that made him feel dizzy and sick but knocked him out again.

He then woke up feeling sick wearing torn baggy clothes. He got out of bed and walked towards the mirror and stood and looked at himself. His jaws clenched as he stood there in silence. Miles screamed as high as he could, but no one heard him as he had shrunk because of that old man. Days later, No one ever heard from Miles again.

The Order Of Operations Millionaire Game

WALHT: Use the order of operations-BEDMAS to solve problems

The online activity that I had to complete was called the “ order of operations millionaire game” and it was just so I could practise bedmas and to revise it. I found this game a bit challenging for me near the end because the questions started to get tricky and I had to solve them on my book. Only the first couple of questions were easy for me. I think it got challenging for me because I didn’t have a perfect understanding of the multiplication. Next time I would like to do an online activity on LCM and HCF.
