facts About the Dendrogramm

Screenshot 2015-05-28 at 12.01.57.png

This specie is one of the most weird and wondrous fascinating sea specie on earth and what really wow’s me is that according to the scientist, this is one of the 10 most weird life forms recently found here on earth!

This sea creature is called a Dendrogramma Enigmatica and it kind of looks like a mushroom but in jelly form. This creature is in Jelly form because it has a dense layer of jelly like material betweens it’s outer skin and inner stomach cell layers.Their stalk is about 7.8 mm in length and cap about 11 mm. The top of the specie ( the part that looks like a mushroom top ) is called a disc and that disc has little stalks inside of it.

The Dendrogramm

Where do they eat and What do they eat? from the bottom or the top? Well, at the end of its stalk is called a mouth field and in that mouth field is lobes and that is where they gobble up their food I guess. They eat Plankton, Crustaceans, Fish eggs, Small Fish and Jelly fish. They live in the South East of Australia and they were collected at water depths of 400 meter. They are also a taxonomic genus. These little species are also known as members of the Dendrogram Mantidae family.

Making my paper chain

WALT: 1. Write a recount.
2. Integrate maths and writing
Making my paper chain

On Tuesday morning in class, I was told to make a chain and to try and make it long. We did this to help us to have an understanding of estimation. We had to buddy up with someone so I was with yazmin. We were making chains to estimate how long we could make it.

IMG_4074.JPGFirst, we got given two sheets of A5 paper. They were christmas colours. Red and Green. Then yazmin and I estimated how long we thought our chain would be and we thought that it would be one meter. Then we decided on what pattern we would do and how we would cut it. We choose to go red, green, red, green and we choose to cut the paper lengthwise then cut it in half to have heaps of strips.

Next, we cut the paper into small strips and we made sure that each strip was six mm. After that, we glued the end of the strips together to create a chain.

Thereafter, I  measured how long our chain was and surprisingly, our chain was three meters and 4 cm. So it was longer than we expected it to be.

Finally, In my book I recorded how long our chain was and I made comparisons with my chain and Samuel and Munokoa’s chain and their’s was longer as it was three hundred and twenty cm.

In conclusion, I compared mine to other students chains and to do that, I put my chain next to some other students one to see if mine was longer but my chain was only longer than eight students chains and only two students and their buddies chain was longer than mine. If I had to do this exercise without cutting the paper with scissors, I could of ripped the paper or use the ruler to cut the paper. From this exercise I learnt about sizes and estimation.

Length of our chains

Length of our Chains

WALT:  1. Arrange length in order.
            2. Find mean, median, mode and range.
            3. explain the difference in length.

Pairs
Length of Chain in centimetres
Viliami and Howard
383
Munokoa and Samuel
320
Petuana and yazmin
304
Stephanie and Cherish
286
ketura and Serena
220
Andrea and Lana
200
Alyssa and Shanelle
192
Ifa and tane
192
Lorenzo and Liam
170
Wesely and Koliata
169
Ben and Dion
86

The mean is 229.3
The median is 200
The mode is 192
The range is 297

I think that Viliami and Howard's chain is 383cm because of how thin that they cut their strips  and because they probably use length side than the width side. They did that to have more strips of paper too. I also  think that Ben and Dion's chain is big and short because they cut their strips to thick and their strips ended up being too big.

E asttle reading results

Reading results.png

This is my reading e asttle results. I did very well because I am above the national standards. My overall score that I got is 4a and I am very happy. I think that I did well because I listened to my teacher when we were supposed to and because I did my work and stayed on task. Next time, I am aiming to get a 5b or maybe a 5p.

E asttle math results

This is my e asttle result. I’m not very happy with it so that basicly means that I need to work harder in maths if I want to achieve my goal. I am below the national standards because I didn't really understand much in maths. Next time, I aim to get a 4b or 4p and I want to make sure that I pay more attention in maths.

A while ago, I played this game called area and perimeter. I had to calculate the sides of the shape they gave me.I just got 1 wrong because I accidentally put in the wrong answer.  I found this really easy and I hope to do some harder ones next time.

All Blacks jobs

WALT: Research the needs for a job

Out of these jobs, I’d want to be a dietitian for the all blacks because I would be able to make them fit and healthy for their games and I’d be able to make sure that they eat well and that they are in good shape. I would also be able to write down, plan and pick the sorts of good nutritious food that they can eat.  But the reason why I’d want to be a dietitian is so that I can hang out with them and be really good friends.

Tin foil art

Today,I finally finished off my art from last week.
It's a picture of a blue winnie the pooh, because there was no yellow whiteboard marker. To do this art, I had first draw winnie on my piece of foil then after that I had to use whiteboard markers and colour in my picture. I am happy with my art.

Double Bar graph

WALT: Use online tools to draw a double bar graph.

Watched Did not watch
B    G B G
10   5 3  7

This morning we collected this data by a show of hands. Then we use that data to draw a double bar graph and we use the online tools to do it and as you can see It is clear that on sunday early in the morning, more boys watched the RWC than girls because boys like rugby and because they are fans. And as you can see less girls watched the rugby world cup because they either woke up early to support the team or wanted to see who would win.  More girls didn't watch the RWC finals because they were probably still asleep or they aren't big fans of rugby and less boys didn't watch the rugby because they were probably like the girls. Too tired or not big fans. Robin had the closest score as he said that the score would be 32-17 and the real score was 34-17.
