The Black Piranha

The Black Piranha

WALT: Write a descriptive paragraph

It was a lovely summers day and a man (George) decided to go out and have an adventure out in the South American rivers. Why did he decide to go there though? Well, george loved the outback and he also loved sea species. One day, a friend told him about the South American rivers and how there were Black Piranhas that lived there. He was fascinated to know that there were Black Piranha’s living there so he decided to go out there and find some.

“ Hmmm, I wonder if the piranhas are here?” questioned George. Then in about 15 minutes after he said that, he saw a creature lurking around his boat. George felt like he was being stalked by someone but then out of no where a black piranha shooted out of no where and George was so fascinated that he called his friends ( Mike and Sarah) and they started to ask him what it looked like, so he started to describe it in a deep voice because he was still so shocked!

“With it’s superb set of strong, sharp and fearsome teeth they are one of the sharpest in the world. It has a very distinctive dark body colour and has rare fire burning red eyes. This fearsome sea creature can bite you in half a second and is cannibalistic, so that means that this creature can and definitely will eat it’s own kind. The Black Piranha hunt’s on it’s own instead of hunting in a pack and they are not afraid to. It is so maneuverable that when it swims, it’s like it’s sprinting in the ocean, as it swurves it’s body side to side. It swims at a very great pace and has a very stocky body like a bulldog. “

After he finished describing it, he then released the piranha and safely went back home with a story to tell his family back at home.

Textiles

On Monday, we have tech, and I am in sewing class. In sewing class I practicing sewing on a piece of paper and I basicly just sewing squiggles. I did this with a guide line but next time, I think I should just use a guideline because I'm not very good at sewing without a guide line.

New Zealand Milo Mug

WALT: Design our own New Zealand milo mug.

Last Friday, I started to create my own milo cup. First, I had to plan what my designs would look like on my cup, then, once my teachers were happy with my design they gave me a cup to start on and I outlined my designs on the cup then with a whiteboard marker I went over it and finished my designs. My milo cup had to have New Zealand flavour, so New Zealand designs. Today I just finished creating it and it's looking neat!

Information report on Glen Innes School

WALT: Write an Information Report on Glen Innes school.

Glen Innes School, located in the Eastern Suburbs up North in Auckland. In the beautiful suburb of Glen Innes on East View Road.

At Glen Innes school, there are beautiful trees that grow taller and bigger, a brand new petanque pit that the caretaker just made and much more things. Glen Innes school has a cool swimming pool and library that most children use. This school also has a cook Island pre school beside it that many toddlers attend.

There is also breakfast provided at school so that the children who don’t have breakfast at home can have it at school. The best thing about this is that you don’t need to pay for it! So children can come in, have some toast and cereal and some nice warm milo to fill them up until it’s morning tea.

Glen Innes school is a full primary school and starts from year one and ends at year eight. There is also a junior playground that is on the juniors half and a seniors playground that's on the senior side. So, it’s safer for the juniors to play on their side because everything there for them to play on or with is in their reach and is their height.

Glen Innes school starts from 9:00am till 3:00pm from Monday to Friday. This school was built in 1955 and years ago and used to be mostly made up pakeha people. As the pacific islander population grew, the pakeha population decreased, and as a result the pakeha vacated the area and the Islanders came. `

At Glen Innes school, there are more than 210 students registered at this school and 98% of them are pacific Islanders. At this school, there is a large population of tongan people here so that’s nearly half of the school.  There are 12 teachers at Glen Innes school and each one of them are very good teachers because they help every student to learn if that want to learn.

There is also a camp for the year 7 and 8’s to attend to. This camp is called sports camp and there are about 30 students going. At this camp, it’s all about sports and we practice and practice to get better and better for sports camp because there will be other schools competing this school. So, on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 am and Thursday afternoons at 3:15pm, students train to get ready for sports camp.

Mr Hendricks ( the principal) of Glen Innes School  runs this school and he is in charge of nearly everything. So his job is to make sure that the children and the school can and will run smoothly.

There are schools across the world so that children can have a good education and so that they can learn. There are also schools for children to associate and to make friends with other children.

Glen Innes school works by children working as a team, by teachers teaching and educating children, by everyone communicating and cooperating with each other, by caring for everyone and by encouraging cultural groups in this school.

Maths Week!

Screenshot 2015-08-12 at 09.41.57.png

In this game, I had to answer these questions that they gave me. I found this game a bit easy and I got about four questions wrong, but I was lucky because I knew the answer to most of these questions. Every time that I got an answer correct, I would get some money like for every one correct question I would get $1. I liked this game.

Equivalent Fractions

Last Week, I played this math game called Equivalent fractions. In this game, I was learning how to place fractions that are equivalent to each other on top of them. I really needed to know my fractions and luckily I did. I did very well in this game and my score was 10/10, so I was really happy with my score. Next time, I want to learn how to place a bigger fraction on it's equivalent fraction.

Practicing Hockey

This morning at 9:30, room 11 went outside to play hockey. We learnt how to play hockey with our coach Lydia. She went through a few safety rules with us first before we could start. One of them were keeping the hockey stick below our knees, not above. Another one was to not swing your hockey stick around in the air because you could whack somebody in the head. Another rule was to put your hands on the flat side of the hockey stick. And one more thing is that it is really important to bend your knees when you are playing hockey so that you don't end up getting a sore back. When we were playing Hockey, we played a few games. The first game that we played was called follow the leader and in that game there were three people in a team. The second game that we played was called bus stop. We also played another game called bus stop. That was really fun.
