Creating a dream garden

WALT: Create a garden using square units.

Today in maths,  Room 11 created a garden using square units. The reason for this was to understand the concept of area. First we had to plan on what we wanted our garden to look like. But first we had to realise that our pool had to be 20 units ( 20 squares), our Rock garden had to be 6 units, paving had to be 1 unit and the path leading to the pool had to be 1 unit as well. I found this easy math activity  to do because I understood what units were. In Today's math session, I learnt that pools can cost over 50 thousand dollars!!

Petuana's Math

This week, in maths I have been learning about fractions and how to position them correctly on the number line. At first I found it really hard but then, my teacher started going over and over it, I finally knew how to do it. In this game you have to know where to place the fractions.I thought it was easy for me because it showed me because it showed me how many slices the pizza was cut into. I still want to learn about positioning fractions but a little more challenging.

Co-ordinates

WALT: find the correct coordinates

In this game, direct Billy the Bug to the correct coordinate.You needed to know which is the Y coordinate and the X coordinate. When you placed the bug into the right place, you needed to press feed so he could eat the grub that was located in  the places that you had to go to. If you get it right, then you would get a point, but If you did not land him in the right place then he would say no. I found this game challenging and easy at the same time and next time when I play this game I am hoping that I can just do it in a click.

Patterns and rules

Patterns and rules 17/10/14

The game that I played was patterns and rules. In this game you needed to know how to continue a pattern because nearly half of the question that you would be asked would be algebra. I found this game challenging and difficult for me because i didn't really understand the rule, but I got some of the questions right. In the picture I moved up to medium, then I went down to easy, because it got a little bit difficult. I could improve in this game by practicing more often. My score was: 1,820.

Scale Drawings

I learned to use scale to enlarge my drawing. I used a scale of 1 cm to represent 3cm. This means that my drawing was 3 times bigger. The task was confusing because i didn't understand what enlarging ment but now i know and it is just making small things larger. I need more challenging work on this topic. Next i would like to  Enlarge more things with even more detail.

Finding Grampy

WALT: Find and play the game Find Grampy.

In this game, we needed to guess where grampy is hiding. if you get it correct, then grampy will come out of the hedge and he will wave to you. I had to find the correct fraction that grampy was in, because he likes to hide behind the hedge. I found this game challenging but also fun. I think that this game is a good game for everyone and anyone who needs help with their fractions.

Name that shape

WALT: play the game called name that shape.

This game was cool and hard. in this game, i had to name what ever shape that they gave me.

i found some shapes hard because some of them are shapes that i have never seen before.

when i played this game, i was timed. it took me 35 seconds to answer ten questions. Next time, my goal is to answer 10 questions in 20 or less seconds.

Fractions Pizza game

WALT: play the fractions game.

This fraction game helped me with my fractions. I had to name the fraction of the pizza that was on the screen. I found level 1 easy because it had simple fractions for me to start of with.  Next I would like to play level 2.

This work here is what i did in Room 12, at glen innes school.

This work is what i did in my maths class because this year,

Glen innes school is doing their maths like how you would do it

at college, when you move to different classes to do maths,reading

or writing, that is what Glen innes school is doing from rooms 9-12 

years 5-8. And this maths here is what i have started in week 1-week 

4. It is 10 pages long but i completed it and now i can go on GAMES!! wipee!

This is a maths game that my maths teacher had set me for the day. This website is a good learning game that you can learn heaps from, and it is just like a competition.

I learnt how to answer fast from this game and that it is not always about winning, it’s just about trying so if you would like to have a try at this game and to see if you can answer questions real fast, simply type the following:

My Learning in maths

This is what i learnt in maths today.

Today in room 12, all the stage 5 children had been working on steam and leaf graphs. All the stage 6’s were working on their pulses, and from the stage 6’s i learnt how to do a pulse, and to see whether you have a pulse or not, you have to grab 2 fingers and press it hard but gently by your wrist, then count until you have to stop. Then, record your pulse number and keep doing it for about three days and see the difference.

Stage 5 children all did stem and leaf graphs. it was quite difficult for me but i got use to it.
