WALT: Write an Information Report on Glen Innes school.
Glen Innes School, located in the Eastern Suburbs up North in Auckland. In the beautiful suburb of Glen Innes on East View Road.
At Glen Innes school, there are beautiful trees that grow taller and bigger, a brand new petanque pit that the caretaker just made and much more things. Glen Innes school has a cool swimming pool and library that most children use. This school also has a cook Island pre school beside it that many toddlers attend.
There is also breakfast provided at school so that the children who don’t have breakfast at home can have it at school. The best thing about this is that you don’t need to pay for it! So children can come in, have some toast and cereal and some nice warm milo to fill them up until it’s morning tea.
Glen Innes school is a full primary school and starts from year one and ends at year eight. There is also a junior playground that is on the juniors half and a seniors playground that's on the senior side. So, it’s safer for the juniors to play on their side because everything there for them to play on or with is in their reach and is their height.
Glen Innes school starts from 9:00am till 3:00pm from Monday to Friday. This school was built in 1955 and years ago and used to be mostly made up pakeha people. As the pacific islander population grew, the pakeha population decreased, and as a result the pakeha vacated the area and the Islanders came. `
At Glen Innes school, there are more than 210 students registered at this school and 98% of them are pacific Islanders. At this school, there is a large population of tongan people here so that’s nearly half of the school. There are 12 teachers at Glen Innes school and each one of them are very good teachers because they help every student to learn if that want to learn.
There is also a camp for the year 7 and 8’s to attend to. This camp is called sports camp and there are about 30 students going. At this camp, it’s all about sports and we practice and practice to get better and better for sports camp because there will be other schools competing this school. So, on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 am and Thursday afternoons at 3:15pm, students train to get ready for sports camp.
Mr Hendricks ( the principal) of Glen Innes School runs this school and he is in charge of nearly everything. So his job is to make sure that the children and the school can and will run smoothly.
There are schools across the world so that children can have a good education and so that they can learn. There are also schools for children to associate and to make friends with other children.
Glen Innes school works by children working as a team, by teachers teaching and educating children, by everyone communicating and cooperating with each other, by caring for everyone and by encouraging cultural groups in this school.
