The Maori Ngaro Rock ( The Mysterious Rock)

Maori Myth

WALT: Create a Maori myth.

“ Splash! Crash! Bang!” As the sound of the salty water crashes against the rocks the shiny hot suns reflection beams on the ocean as Pania the most gorgeous girl in the town soaks her feet deep down into the warm soft sand.

“ What?....What is that thing?” whispered Pania as she soaked her feet in the sand. Bring Bring! went Pania’s phone. “ Hello! Hey guys come now I’ve found something in the ocean at the beach and it looks quite interesting!” answered Pania“ Okay, Okay we’ll be there soon!”.

In a tick, Pania’s two best friends Akenehi and Akahata had arrived and they all went for a swim to find out what was shimmering in the ocean. “ HEY! HEY! I found that thing that was shimmering in the ocean” Pania yelled out. “ What is it?” shouted Akenehi. “ A glowing rock” So Pania handed the rock over to Akenehi and Akahata and they both had a glance at it. Either of them knew what the rock was or what it did, so they had an agreement that Pania would take the rock home for the night because she found it.

As the day flew by, Night had arrived and darkness had already flooded into houses. “ da da da da” sang pania as she placed the mysterious rock on her draw and left to have dinner. Bring Bring! rang Pania’s phone but there was no answer. “ Crack!” went the rock as it started to split. “BANG! BANG!” went the rock as it smashed into the ground. “ What was that?” Went pania as she blitzed upstairs to her room finding an 8 inched beast drooling with water with sharp splinters lined on it’s back.” AHHHHHHHHH!” screamed Pania. “ BRING BRING!” went her phone. “yes! who is it?” “ oh Akahata come please just come!” “o-o-okay-i’m -br-bre-aking u-p!” Shouted Akahata. “ GIVE ME SOME FOOD! I WHAKAHAU (command) YOU TO!” “ No! tell me what you are and I will!” Pania screamed. “ I am a MAORI TANGAROA and i’m HUNGRY!”

“Here! take it but I AM taking you back to the sea” “ Yea that’ll be nice i’m having troubles breathing to” “okay lets go!” So Pania took the tangaroa back to it’s home and just as they walked through the door Akahata came and so she took them to the beach, but he couldn't fit in the car so they tied him up to roof of the car and safely drove themselves to the beach. “we’re here!” Akahata shouted. “Te pai” said the maori sea creature. It was then 10:30pm and Pania and Akahata were very sleepy, so Pania said her goodbyes to the maori sea creature and left the beach, and when morning arrived they told Akenehi all about the maori Tangaroa and when they went to the beach, they found the maori sea creature hiding behind the rocks eating seaweed singing: “ Ba Ba Da da Ma Ma Laaaa!” .
