My Wire Sculpture

Vocabulary

1. GOAL:

Make a wire sculpture

2. MATERIALS:

wire scissors pencil pva glue cardboard white paper

3. STEPS:

Get some wire. Create a stencil of a common wealth game like sprints. Twist wire around your stencil. Pull out the wire from the stencil. Make a box that is large enough for your wire man. Paint it red or a colour that you like. Leave your box to dry. Grab your wire man Stick the legs to the box and the head to the box Leave your wire man to dry Glue some paper behind your wire man. Display your art in your classroom or at home. Here is an example of what a wire man looks like:

Comparing fractions 22.08.14 WALT: 

WALT:Solve problems with fractions 


 This game is called comparing fractions with same denominators. In this game, I had to try and figure out if the fractions were equal,less than or more than. This game was really easy for me because  suddenly got the hang of it. I think that this game was really easy for me and that I want a more challenging game just like this, but with more and bigger fractions.

Scale Drawings

I learned to use scale to enlarge my drawing. I used a scale of 1 cm to represent 3cm. This means that my drawing was 3 times bigger. The task was confusing because i didn't understand what enlarging ment but now i know and it is just making small things larger. I need more challenging work on this topic. Next i would like to  Enlarge more things with even more detail.

Finding Grampy

WALT: Find and play the game Find Grampy.

In this game, we needed to guess where grampy is hiding. if you get it correct, then grampy will come out of the hedge and he will wave to you. I had to find the correct fraction that grampy was in, because he likes to hide behind the hedge. I found this game challenging but also fun. I think that this game is a good game for everyone and anyone who needs help with their fractions.

Netball training

Netball Training 23.07.14

After morning tea at 11.15am Glen Innes school, we had Netball training from a laddie who teaches  netball at the ami netball.

First, we all went up on the school court to get ready for our session. Then, she came. She introduced herself to us and said that her name is Donna.Donna asked us a few questions before we could get started. She asked us “What is the first thing that you play before you get started” and we all said ”a warm-up!”, first we did a few exercises. then we played a game.  she asked us to get into pairs of 2 or 3. Mele,Alisi,Alyssa and i wanted to group up and be a pair of 4, but when we asked Donna ( our coach ) said “no.”so Alyssa and i paired up and Alisi and Mele paired up.

After that,we played a game called “fire and friendly.” In this game when Donna would say Fire! then all fires would have to pass  the ball to their knee  and if she said friendly, then all friendlies would have to do a high through.Next, we played another. we had to get into groups, so like Donna would ask us to go into the red group, green group or blue group and when we were ready, donna asked us if one of us wanted to hold a hoop and if one of us wanted to pass the ball to the children when they had passed it back. I was in the green group and sina and Rebecca were either holding the hoop or passing the ball back to us.

Then, when that finished we all got in a  circle. Boys were in one circle and the girls were in the other circle. we had to pass to balls around in the circle while watching each other to see weather if the ball is coming to you, or to someone else.I liked this game but it was hard to watch the ball to see if it was coming to you or not.

I think that todays netball training with Donna was fun and friendly. my favourite game for todays netball training was “fire and Friendly”.

Name that shape

WALT: play the game called name that shape.

This game was cool and hard. in this game, i had to name what ever shape that they gave me.

i found some shapes hard because some of them are shapes that i have never seen before.

when i played this game, i was timed. it took me 35 seconds to answer ten questions. Next time, my goal is to answer 10 questions in 20 or less seconds.
